Drugs valued at Rs 9 crore seized in Cachar, four held

Police and security forces seized Yaba tablets and heroin worth Rs 9 crore in two separate operations in Cachar district, arresting four persons.

Silchar: Police and security forces seized Yaba tablets and heroin worth Rs 9 crore in two separate operations in Cachar district and arrested four persons in this connection.
Sources said, acting on a tip-off, the Cachar Police raided a vehicle at Ghungoor locality near Silchar bypass on Thursday evening and seized 20,000 yaba tablets packed in two packets.

Three persons were arrested in this connection. The alleged smugglers were identified as Nizam Uddin (56) and Dimduanlung Rongmei (50), both residents of Jirighat in Cachar district, and Kamal Uddin (50) of Sildubi in the same district.
The market value of the seized drug is Rs 6 crore, police said.
In another operation, Assam Rifles and Assam Police seized 418g heroin valued at Rs 3.01 crore in the Hawaithang area of Cachar district on Thursday.
Assam Rifles sources on Friday said, based on the specific information concerning the presence of drugs in Hawaithang, a joint operation was launched by Assam Rifles and cops of Dholai police station. During the operation, 418g of heroin valued at Rs 3.01 crore was seized and one person, identified as Mira Hussain, was also apprehended. Hussain is a resident of Lailapur in Cachar district.
The seized drugs and apprehended individual were handed over to the Dholai police station.
